| So, I propose a subject about: writing in english, it could improve your english, and a fun with this other language! (it could be the same with chinese?!) But not everyone can read english quite well, so to help each one, you must write what you wanted to say next to your english text. And if someone notices a mistake, or a grammar fault... please say it!

| What a nice idea of topic Stéphan ! I totally agree with your suggestion. It would probably be difficult, but it can be very funny. I propose to use the fonction "red color" when we think there is a mistake in what a friend wrote, or the function "strike", as you like. It should be simple and clear.

| yes yes! very good idea! although i won't do a "prepa"^^ i think i'll often come in this topic! it's very interesting to talk in other languages! i think Isa and sophie and me....other people who speak chinese, can do like here!! it's very important to practise English (and every languages!) because, at school, most of the time, you write, you can't speak a lot...

| I am smiling because I can see the interest of this topic. Although I think it could be on the forum earlier, it is better late than never!
ahhhhhhhh! The phone rang, it was the driving school, and I learned a bad new! In fact, I wanted to make a surprise to the benevolents at the Reunion island, because I was suppose to make my driving exam today! But it seems that the inspector is ill, and my driving exam has been defered!

But it seems that the inspector is ill, and my driving exam has been defered! it could be => "it could have been" plutôt non? a bad new => a piece of bad news, news s'emploie tjs au pluriel. at the Reunion island => Il me semble qu'on peut se passer de "the" : at Reunion Island. I was suppose => I was supposed to... to make my driving exam

| Yes, you're right Stéphan : it's "difered", but you wrote "defered" in your first message. lol I simply did a "copy and paste" of your word, thinking it was "difered" you wanted to use. And it's true that I made a typing mistake when I wrote : "benevolant" lol It's : benevolent...but, I feel its use very strange although I've checked the word in the dictionnary. I suppose "volunteer" is more common. | |

| Yes, I don't like to fight about a word. lol And, we don't fight about a word, we just try to correctly practise our English. In fact, there has been a big confusion in my mind. You're right :deferred = this word exists, I have the "Longman, dictionnary of contemporay English, 3rd Edition", an unilingual dictionary. To differ also exists. I've made a mix of the two words! What a shame! How stupid I am !!
to defer : to delay something until a later date : example : let's defer the decision for a few weeks.
to differ : to be different from something in quality, features etc...
I hope there will not be any discussion on this word after my message. To differ existe aussi. J'ai fait un mélange des 2 mots! Quelle honte!

| Here you can speak about what you want, for exemple what it happened during the day... and why not, put a text to translate and propose a translation? then, we can say if it's right or wrong, and propose a translation too. I think I will put my english subjects on the forum next week-end. You will be able to tell me how difficult it is!

| oooh! i can put my english "subjects" noooow!!! it's my homework for the little holydays!! i have to chose 2 "subjects"!
1/ should the use of moblie phones be banned in public transports, cinemas, schools?
2/ Sport is essential for a well balanced and a healthy life. Comment upon this statement
3/ do you think that in order to fulfil an ambition the end justify the means?
4/ There are heroes who never make a head lines in newspaper. give examples and say why they can be admired.
it's not very difficult but, i don't know what to say!! in think the most interesting are 1/ & 2/ i have to write 200 words "minimum"^^

| I think you're right Genny : " I think I will put my english subjects on the forum next week-end. You will be able to tell me how difficult it is!" I think it's better to use : test or exam, instead of subjectsGenny> I will post later an other message about your subjects. I wanted to post a message in which I suggest corrections of your mistakes. Chrys (and Stéphan)> First, English has a capital letter as all the words which concerns a language...It's not a grammar mistake, but it's important not to forget this. Secondly, " if I have a homework in english to do" The word homework is uncountable, so, we should use : some homeworkThat leads to : If I have some homework.... | |

| so, I said I would put my english test () in this topic.. so, I do it! This is my english test of "agro" you have to translate a text in english to french: "version", and an other text in french to english: "theme"
that is the "version":
"I'm very worried, she said. Can you come over right away, Derek?" "Listen, Mum, I said through gritted teeth. I'm on my mobile. I'm sitting in a traffic jam in Chudleigh Road. Is it urgent?" "It's that dead tree in the back garden, she said I'm really worried about it. It's a danger to life[...]." "Do you know where Chudleigh Road is, Mum? I said. It's between Catford, Greyhound Stadium and Ladywell Cemetery. And you're over in Balham." "Never mind that," she said. Then, "Ladywell used to be a lovely area [...]." "Well, it isn't any more," I snapped, glaring out of the car window into the November drizzle. "I'm very worried, Derek, she said. That tree out the back, it's dead and now the wall beside it is shaky and it might fall on someone." "That wall is only shaky because you went and got rid of the ivy," I told her, crawling along in first, trying not to sound irritated. [...] "You should have left it alone," I said. "It was helping hold that wall up. Parasitical symbiosis."
End!!!!
I found this test quite easy... but there were some "vocabulary gap"
: kk1 pourai me dire si le temp correspond pour "so, I said I would put my english test " je me demande si ca devrait pas etre plutot au past perfect: I had said I would....?

| I think the underlined sentence is correct grammatically. Do you want us to translate your English exam ? That may be quite difficult for me because there are "vocabulary gap" as you said. | |

| I think drizzle is like steam, but it's less "strong" ..... :I explain: you can see through the drizzle, but you can't through the steam
I put my test here, just to show everybody what we have to do in "prépa", then each one can try to translate it.. and seeing that there is no english teacher here, we can help us each other

Then each one can try to translate it...and as there is no English teacher here, we can help each other.- Je ne comprends pas très bien ce que tu as voulu dire par : "and seeing that"...peut-être peux tu proposer une autre formulation de ce que tu as voulu dire.
